Tech Educators sponsors DevelopHER for the second year

It’s been nearly a year since the last DevelopHER awards (please don’t ask us how, honestly, it feels like yesterday) and so while that seems somewhat unnerving, it has its positives. The next DevelopHER awards are just around the corner. This year, we will be continuing our support by sponsoring the Game Development award, which focuses on recognising the incredible women who are levelling up the gaming community.

Started by founder Vickie Allen in 2015, the awards have become a cornerstone in the tech calendar. They do an incredible job of highlighting female talent and promoting gender equality within the industry, offering a platform for role models to inspire the next generation of digital experts.

This year’s finalists for the Game Development Award include Kate Killick, Susi Bauer, and Dwyn D’Alton Goode, all of whom have demonstrated exceptional skill and creativity in their fields.

With the shortlist already out, excitement is building for the ceremony where the winners will be announced. This year, we will be travelling in numbers to Ipswich to take in the atmosphere and support the finalists.

The Game Development gong will be presented by our very own Akshat Sinha, who formed part of the judging team this year. (Sorry to all of the shortlisted candidates, we have asked, and no - we can’t find out who has won. He just won’t tell us.)

Our Founder and CEO, James Adams, had this to say about our continued support of the awards:

“We are incredibly proud to support the DevelopHER Awards and the amazing women they recognise. Supporting diversity in the tech industry is not just about doing the right thing, I genuinely believe it is about unlocking real innovation, ensuring that we harness the full potential of every talented individual who thinks the industry might not be for them.”

“The DevelopHER Awards play a pivotal role in demonstrating the breadth and depth of roles in the industry and rewarding the incredible women who do them.”

“As a small business, we have to choose very carefully how and what events we can support in the industry. Our main focus goes into backing DevelopHER alongside our scholarship program, which is approaching supporting students with nearly £100,000 of education since we started. This is our way of supporting people from all backgrounds into a career in tech, be that diversity in gender, race or socio-economic diversity.”

“We wish all the finalists the very best of luck on the night, and here’s to another incredible year of celebrations.”

The awards are being hosted at the Ipswich Corn Exchange on Thursday 14th November, with doors opening from 5.30pm.  We are super excited to join the tech community in celebrating the incredible accomplishments of all women in the industry for an inspiring evening filled with recognition, celebration, and the chance to engage with the future leaders of tech.

If you are interested in the event and would like some information on how you can support it, head on over to the DevelopHER website, or you can reach out to the Tech Educators team — we’d love to see you there!
