Amie-Leigh: From Freelance Isolation to Upskilled Collaboration

Written by Liv Johnson

A woman sitting in a modern chair with a green plant wall behind her, smiling while writing in a notebook. She is wearing a black outfit and high heels.

For a year, Amie-Leigh Minshull worked alone. Just her laptop, her clients, and a head full of plans.

She’d been a freelance PR consultant, slowly turning her solo venture into something bigger. She was hiring support, reshaping her services, and in the middle of a full rebrand. On paper, it all looked exciting. But in reality? It was exhausting.

“I was building something special,” she remembers, “but doing it alone was tough.”

That was the moment she knew something had to change. And it did—when she signed up for the Digital Marketing with AI course at Tech Educators.

An Unexpected Turning Point

Amie-Leigh thought the course would give her new skills. It did—but it gave her something else too: people.

Among her cohort was a business development specialist who would soon become her partner. The two clicked, and suddenly Amie-Leigh wasn’t building an agency alone anymore.

Together, they launched Shh! PR with a sharper vision and stronger foundations. And the difference was immediate.

Recognition followed. Amie-Leigh became a finalist for Entrepreneur of the Year at the Lincolnshire Business Awards, standing on stage as one of the top three—despite being the only nominee with a business under five years old. Soon after, Shh! PR was named PR Agency of the Year Central England in the Prestige Awards.

“It showed me what’s possible when you’re open to learning, to collaboration, and to trying something new,” she says.

Finding Strength in Community

This was Amie-Leigh’s first ever bootcamp. She wasn’t sure what to expect. Would she keep up? Would it feel too tech-heavy?

What she found was a community.

Her cohort was made up of business owners from every stage—some with just an idea, others with well-established companies. “It was inspiring,” she says. “We shared ideas, swapped insights, and even collaborated beyond the course itself.”

That sense of belonging mattered. It boosted her confidence, not just in her skills but in her ability to lead a rebrand and push the business into a new chapter.

Tutors Who Made the Difference

And then there were the tutors.

“They kept me on track every week,” she explains, “but it wasn’t just about ticking boxes. They gave feedback that pushed me further, encouraged me to build out a detailed rebrand campaign.”

That encouragement turned into action. By the time the bootcamp ended, Shh! PR was stepping into a new era—with a fresh identity and the tools to grow.

A Mission With Purpose

For Amie-Leigh, awards and recognition were never the end goal.

She’d spent over 12 years in global PR and marketing. Over time, she’d noticed something troubling: the disparity in visibility between male and female founders.

“Visibility shouldn’t be a privilege,” she says.

“Too many brilliant women are building businesses that deserve to be seen and celebrated.”

That belief became the heartbeat of Shh! PR. The agency exists to help female founders gain recognition—strategically, sustainably, unapologetically.

A New Relationship With AI

But there was another challenge too: AI.

Like many in PR, Amie-Leigh saw it as a looming threat. Would it replace people? Undermine creativity?

Our Digital Marketing with AI bootcamp gave her a new perspective.

Instead of fighting against AI, she learned how to use it. Research that once took hours? Cut in half. Brainstorming ideas? Easier. Repetitive admin? Streamlined. And all done ethically, with care.

“AI didn’t take away from what we do—it added to it,” she says.

What used to worry her has now become part of her daily toolkit. It’s helped her launch a new flagship service and freed her up to focus on strategy, creativity, and growth.

Learning Without Barriers

One more thing mattered: accessibility.

As someone who is partially deaf, Amie-Leigh often finds online courses difficult to follow. But Tech Educators’ approach was different.

“The information given beforehand, the way sessions were structured—it made learning easy to follow in the way I learn best,” she says. “I never felt left behind.”

Looking Back

So what does she think now?

“Without the course, I wouldn’t have been able to grow the business in the way I have over the last 12 months,” she says simply.

From working solo to running an award-winning agency. From worrying about AI to embracing it.

Her journey with Tech Educators wasn’t just about skills. It was about people, purpose, and possibility.

Your Own Tech Educators' Journey

The truth is, tech isn’t an exclusive club. You don’t need a degree, a certain background, or years of experience. You just need the willingness to take that first step.

Amie-Leigh did—and it changed everything.
